Graduate Student Researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School

October 2022 – April 2023

As a graduate student researcher, your time may be a little shorter, but no less valuable. At the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, I found myself immersed in an environment that was charged with intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm. This leading hospital in clinical research on orthopaedic oncology provided me with vital research skills but also honed my abilities in problem-solving and furthered my clinical knowledge. One of the key factors that contributed to this atmosphere was the presence of helpful and inspiring supervisors. Their guidance and mentorship played a significant role in shaping my research endeavors.

My time in Boston was not limited to the confines of the office. The city offered a multifaceted experience, from watching exciting Boston Celtics games to enjoying walks along the Esplanade after work. There are also many possibilities to engage in sports, hikes and other activities. This, in no small part, was possible due to the friends I made during my stay, both Dutch and American. Interacting with fellow Dutch students added a unique dimension to the journey. We were all driven individuals, dedicated to our work yet equally eager to explore the wonders of the city and create lasting memories together.

I realize how this experience has been instrumental in my personal and professional development. Not only have I gained knowledge and technical expertise, but I have also become a more capable researcher and a well-rounded person. It's an experience I cherish, a chapter of growth, learning, and that forged many meaningful connections.
